Nursing Excellence Recognition Program:  CALL FOR NOMINATIONS



CCCN has revised our recognition program and added new categories.  Help us to recognize your deserving colleagues by submitting a nomination. 

Please join us to:

  • Celebrate and profile cardiovascular nursing excellence within CCCN in the areas of leadership, clinical practice or research
  • Acknowledge nurses who obtain certification/recertification
  • Acknowledge outstanding students who have completed a CV practicum
  • Recognize Canadians who have advocated for CV health and/or CCCN

Awards will be presented at an "awards ceremony" held in conjunction with the CCCN AGM and 35th Anniversary celebration, held as part of the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress, Toronto, Sunday October 26, 2008.

Call for Papers on Heart Failure


Papers are invited for a special issue of the Canadian Journal of Cardiovascular Nursing devoted to advances in heart failure related to nursing care.  This includes original research, literature reviews, case studies, and other discourse relevant to the nursing care of persons with heart failure.  Papers may be submitted in either English or French and will be published in the language of the submission.

Deadline for Manuscript submissions is August 1, 2008

Issue to be published November 2008. Guest edited by Professor Odette Doyon (Université du Quebec à Trois-Rivieres)

Nous invitons des articles pour une édition spéciale du Revue Canadienne de les Infirmières en Soins Cardiovasculaire sur les avances dans les soins des patients avec insuffisance cardiaque.  Ceci inclut des articles de recherche, revue de littérature, et autre discours concernant les soins par infirmières de personés avec insuffisance cardiaque.

CCCN-NS is having an education day on June 6 at the Royal Bank Theatre, Halifax Infirmary Site, QEII Health Sciences Centre:     Metabolic Syndrome: A Constellation of preventable/ modifiable risk in Cardiac Disease.

 

CCCN NB Spring Conference


The CCCN NB spring conference was held on May 1st and 2nd with 79 registered nurses and one student nurse in attendance. Nurses from New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia were in attendance.
The social evening on May 1st was a wonderful opportunity for nurses to network, share in a glass of wine and discuss the topic of Therapeutic Hypothermia Post Cardiac Arrest.

May 2nd was a full day of lecture style education. To view some of the presentations you can visit the following link:

Many of our presenters came dressed in red to help kick off the Heart & Stroke national campaign, "Wear a Red Dress in support of Women's health".

Canadian Cardiovascular Congress

CCCN's Scientific Sessions and AGM will be held as part of the Canadian Cardiovascular Congress in Toronto, October 26-28, 2008.

CCCN's preconference sessions and AGM will be held on Sunday October 26 at the Hilton Hotel.  The CCCN plenary, workshop, oral and poster presentations will be held at the Toronto Convention Centre on Monday Oct 27 and Tuesday Oct 28.

The American Board of Nursing Specialties (ABNS) is seeking input to Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) competencies that it has developed with stakeholders over the past year.
